5 reasons to fall in love with Paris
Go Ahead staffer Claire shares why you should have Paris on your travel wish list (if it isn't there already).
After exploring Paris on tour, Go Ahead staffer Claire—like so many other travelers—couldn't stop thinking about it. If the City of Light isn't on your travel wish list just yet, here are her top 5 reasons to put it on there. (Plus her favorite photos snapped on tour!)
1. There’s actually something for everyone
Art, history, scenery, parks, food, spectacle, romance—you name it, this city of over 2 million residents has got it.
2. It gives you a sense of appreciation
The appreciation for the finer things in Paris makes you stop and smell the roses. It made me realize how quickly we tend to move in North America with our busy lives, when it comes to everything from talking to eating.
Parisians put effort into every detail of an experience until it's just right, whether it's a conversation, a meal, or the design of a building. Seeing how French culture approaches life this way was not only refreshing but illuminating.
3. Some of the best art in the world is here
You could spend days exploring the museums of Paris. There's the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Rodin Museum (which made our list of staff favorites) and countless others. It's an art lover's dream.
4. You can walk forever...
...and never tire because there's always something wonderful to behold around the next corner.
5. It’s just otherworldly
Even if you’re not in a relationship, the city has a sense of romance that’s impossible to ignore. I was walking around one night and stumbled upon a tango class taking place by the Seine River, just a few blocks away from the Eiffel Tower. There was some accordion music, but silence among the dancers and the crowd, and all you could feel was a passion and romance in the air.
It reminded me of this on-tour love story, and how two travelers got married in Paris!
