Tastes from tour: Our Chantilly cream recipe
Go Ahead Tours marketer Michelle tried Chantilly cream in Chantilly, France. Read on to hear about her visit to this elegant countryside town and find our recipe for the classic dessert topper.
The northern commune of Chantilly, France has a few claims to fame, including its extravagant Château de Chantilly shown below and the town’s intricate namesake lace, but the most delicious of its calling cards is definitely Chantilly cream. Go Ahead Tours marketer Michelle had the opportunity to visit the historic area on a culinary tour of France and tasted the fluffy whipped topping for herself.
“During the Food & Wine: France through Burgundy & Champagne tour, we saw a lot of really beautiful villages as we made our way around eastern France, but Chantilly stands out as one of the most elegant. After visiting the massive château and equestrian center, we went to the downtown area for lunch at a local crêperie called La Cour Pavée. For the main course, I had a melty ham-and-cheese crêpe, followed by a sweet dessert crêpe topped with chocolate and the town’s famous Chantilly cream, which is basically a really delicious version of whipped cream. The opportunity to taste Chantilly’s signature sweet right in Chantilly was such a treat!”
