Mojito recipe: The spirit of Cuba

The history of the mojito is full of mystery and intrigue. While its roots are undeniably tied to Cuba, African influences and everyone from Sir Francis Drake to Ernest Hemingway and James Bond have had a part in its creation and place within the modern bar scene. This refreshing drink pairs perfectly with a little warm weather, whether you find yourself relaxing poolside or basking in the Caribbean sun.

Ingredients:
- 1 lime, sliced
- 8 mint leaves
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 oz white rum
- Ice cubes
- Soda water
Directions:
Cut lime and squeeze 3/4 of it into a highball glass. Add mint leaves and sugar. Blend the ingredients together by pushing and twisting with a muddler. Add rum and ice. Mix to dissolve the sugar, keeping the mint leaves on the bottom of the glass. Add soda water and garnish with lime cut into wedges or rounds.
