5 things to do in the Algarve
If you’re dreaming of a to Portugal, check out our staffer Jules' five things to do in the Algarve.
The Algarve is known for its beautiful beaches and sunny, Mediterranean vibes—which is what drew our staffer Jules to visit Portugal on tour. If you’re dreaming of a trip, check out her top five things to do in the Algarve.
Soak in the views at Sagres Fortress
You’ll get spectacular views of the Atlantic from Sagres Point, which is the southwesternmost tip of Europe. Plus, you can explore the 16th-century fort on the site.
Take a boat ride through the caves
“This was set up by our Tour Director, and was the best experience by far!” says Jules. The caves, or algars in Portuguese, were carved by thousands of years of erosion—and are so amazing up close!
Hike Ponta da Piedade trail
Walking along the coastline is one of the best things to do in the Algarve—it’s great way to take in views of the dramatic limestone seacliffs that make the region so unique! At the end Ponta da Piedade especially, you’ll find some of the most postcard-worthy views of the Algarve.
Visit Lagos Viewpoint (and the beach!)
Of course, one of the top reasons to visit the Algarve is the incredible beaches. Some of the best are right in Lagos, where you can get amazing vistas from the top of the cliff then head down to the beach at Praia do Camilo to relax.
Grab a bite and explore
Being right on the ocean, the Algarve is of course known for amazing seafood. Other recommendations? “Get a cone from Crema di Gelato and walk around downtown,” says Jules. Or, stop at Nah Nah Bah for “the BEST burgers.”
