After visiting Tuscany in 2009, Go Ahead traveler Brenda A. returned to Italy with two friends this past fall. “One friend had not been to Italy before and we wanted her to see as much as she could,” she said. “The Grand Tour of Italy seemed like the right one, and it was! We had a great time bonding, laughing and making a lot of memories together.” Here are just a few of the reasons Brenda loved the trip.
The iconic Colosseum
“The Colosseum was just an incredible sight to see. We found ourselves talking about how it must have been all those years ago, almost visualizing it. Our local guide was so informative, we found all of it very captivating.”
In our guide, find our 5 fun facts about the Colosseum.
Her great group
“We really had a great tour group—we all bonded quite quickly. Our Tour Director David made that easy to do. He was a book of knowledge and made the whole tour very fun and exciting.”
A day trip to Capri
“Capri is such an amazing city. From the tiny streets, shops and bridges to the views overlooking the ocean, it was breathtaking. The boat ride around the island was spectacular.”
Venice’s picturesque gondolas
“Riding in the gondolas with our Italian singer in Venice made us feel like we were in a movie.”
Wine tasting 101
“The wine tasting was just a hoot! We learned how to drink wine, how to hold the glass and, of course, how to properly sniff the wine first. As a wine drinker, I took that back to the States and use the techniques all the time. It has been fun to show our friends how it is really supposed to be done.”
