With the holidays coming up, there’s no better way to get your group in the traveling spirit than by hosting a festive get-together.

With the holidays coming up, there’s no better way to get your group members in the traveling spirit than by hosting a festive get-together. Read on to discover our top tips for making your next recruitment meeting or pre-tour party merry.

Stationery and coffee

1. Send invites early

This time of year can get pretty busy, so whether you’re planning a recruitment meeting or pre-departure party, make sure to send out your invitations well in advance.

Dinner toast

2. Embrace local culture

Turn your gathering into a celebration by taking inspiration from your destination country’s holiday traditions. Traveling to Italy? Serve seafood in honor of La Vigilia, a Christmas Eve feast that typically consists of several fish dishes.

Wine

3. Set up a swap

Arrange a gift exchange and trade travel-related trinkets with your group members. Or, theme it around a region you’ll be exploring on tour. If you’re headed to France, why not make your swap all about wine?

Holiday cookies

4. Plan an activity

Decorate cookies, pop in a holiday classic for movie night, or play a round of travel-themed Twenty Questions to help bring potential recruits and currently booked travelers together.

Christmas ornaments

5. Give a homemade gift

For a fun DIY project, make ornaments with your tour’s name and departure date. Then, hand them out to each of your group members at your next meeting as a party favor. If you’re looking for some design inspiration, check out this Pinterest board.

Note writing

6. Mail season’s greetings

Spread cheer by sending out holiday cards to your travelers. Write a note sharing what you’re most looking forward to doing or seeing on tour to get them excited about going.

Traditional Bulgarian dinner

7. Master regional recipes

Learn how to prepare traditional dishes from your destination—or if cooking isn’t your strong suit, find a restaurant nearby that specializes in the region’s cuisine—and host a dinner for your group.
