A place I could visit again and again is South Africa. It truly has everything—colorful street art in Johannesburg; staggeringly beautiful winelands in the Western Cape; world-class hotels, restaurants, and museums in Cape Town; golden, sunny beaches in Durban; and, of course, safaris in Kruger National Park. Every visit to South Africa unveils something special and different.
The most memorable place I’ve ever visited is India. There, everything—flavors, aromas, landscapes, colors, crowds, sounds, sunlight, textures—is more intense and amplified than anywhere else, in the best possible way. Indians are some of the warmest and most gracious hosts I’ve encountered in all my travels. And then there’s the food!
My favorite place in the world is Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, in particular). Cities there are smartly designed; chefs and bartenders proudly spotlight locally grown ingredients (and they do some truly creative things with them!); locals know how to fully embrace each season (even long, dark winters); and public programming makes everything from the arts to vocational classes available to practically everyone.
