My favorite place in the world is Edinburgh, Scotland. The city just has a special kind of magic to it. I lived in Scotland for four years during university, and while I didn’t study in Edinburgh specifically, I spent a couple of summers living there while performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Reflecting on the early mornings and late nights I spent wandering around the Old Town between performances still brings a smile to my face.

The best meal I’ve had abroad was at a warung in Bali, which is a type of small, local shop. I miss Indonesian food so much and haven’t been able to find anything like it back home. I follow a plant-based diet, so being served a massive plate of nasi goreng, tempeh, tofu, and spectacularly spiced vegetables was an absolute dream. Just thinking about those flavors leaves me longing to travel across the globe to experience that meal all over again.

The most memorable place I’ve ever visited is Tanzania. I spent a few months living in a Maasai village working at a school about an hour outside of Arusha. Waking up to a view of Mount Kilimanjaro outside my window each morning always stopped me in my tracks. Scenery aside, I’ll never forget my incredible students and the amazing women in the village. Years later, I still cherish the connections I made there.
